Unlike our competitors, ColnaTec is focused on delivering comprehensive solutions to the problems that our customers face every day. In other words, we continuously improve, listening regularly to what is most needed in the industries we serve, then look at possible solutions, building the best products that meet those specific needs.
For example, while visiting Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) manufacturers in Korea, we learned a great deal about the problems that are giving them headaches daily. In particular, what we heard from every manufacturer was a need for extending the time between vacuum chamber shutdowns due to crystal failure. While each manufacturer had different goals, all were interested in longer run-times to improve their yield and ultimately increase revenues. Our approach is not to simply offer them what's on our shelf, but rather look at their needs holistically and seek a solution that will solve their problem...and that's exactly what we're doing right now. We DO have several items currently available to meet their immediate needs, such as better crystals, but we are actively designing and building new sensor heads that will increase run-times, decrease downtime and ultimately improve yield.
OLED, however, isn't the only thin film technology we serve. We have products currently in production that address the needs of multiple thin film technologies, and we are in development on new products for the following, addressing their unique thin film needs:
Thin Film Photovoltaics (PV) aka CIGS process: solar cells
Problem: Thick, gummy selenium layers rapidly build up, causing early crystal failure
Solution: Extend run-time
Products: ThermaHead sensor, SuperQuartz, revolutionary sensor head in development
Other problem being researched: improving storage technology
Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE): high speed electrical devices like cell phone components
Problem: Products are manufactured in an ultra-high vacuum (UHV), and shutting down the chamber to change crystals after failure is very costly, as downtimes range from 2-4 weeks
Solution: Extend run-time, improve adhesion and crystal redundancy
Products: RC Crystals, ThermaHead sensor, SuperQuartz, revolutionary sensor head in development
Chemical Vapor Deposition: semiconductor wafer processing and LED
Problem: Standard crystals can't operate at the elevated temperatures necessary
Solution: Improved crystal with high temperature functionality
Products: ThermaHead sensor, SuperQuartz, revolutionary monitoring system in development
